General tips

New York City or New York City, NYC, is the most populous city in the United States.
It belongs to the state of New York.
It traces its origins to Fort Amsterdam and a trading post on the southern tip of Manhattan Island in 1624.
It came under British control in 1664, when it was renamed New York. Although in 1673, called New Orange, in 1674 it recovered the name of New York.
It was the capital of the United States between 1785 and 1790.

Ladies Pavilion

🚕 is located 31.1 km, 40 minutes by car, northwest of the Airport.
Location information
It was so named because it adjoined the ladies' skating pond and may have been used as a gender-separated locker room for female skaters in the 1860s.
Designed in 1871 as a shelter for people waiting to change streetcars at Columbus Circle in the southwest corner of the park. It was restored in 1987.
It is made of wrought iron in a playful Gothic style.
The Ladies' Pavilion fell into disrepair over time due to rust and vandalism and the structure was destroyed in 1971. It was partially rebuilt in 1973. Six years later it was completely restored.
It is located in Central Park. Central Park is an urban park and was the first landscaped park in the United States.

Location information
The first carousel was installed in 1871.
Officially Michael Friedsam Memorial Carousel.
It is an antique carousel carved from wood.
It is the fourth carousel on the lot where it is located.
The original carousel was powered by a mule or horse under its platform, which the operator instructed to start and stop by tapping his foot. The next two versions were destroyed by fires in 1924 and 1950.

It was issued on September 1, 1912, and dedicated on May 30, 1913, to the men who died aboard the USS Maine when the ship exploded in Havana Harbor.
It is an open-air monument.
It consists of a pylon with a fountain at its base and sculptures surrounding it. A sculptural group of gilt bronze figures atop the pylon represents the Columbia Triumphant and her shell chariot drawn by three seahorses.

It was inaugurated in 1924.
The Broadway Theater was formerly Universal's Colony Theatre, BS Moss's Broadway Theatre, Earl Carroll's Broadway Theater and Ciné Roma.
It has approximately 1,763 seats on two levels.
The Broadway façade was originally designed in the Italian Renaissance style and was made of brick and terra cotta. The theater's modern façade is made of polished granite and is part of the office building completed in 1990.
The auditorium contains an orchestra level, a balcony and boxes.

It is an entertainment and theater venue, inside Rockefeller Center.

The land was originally intended for a Metropolitan Opera House, although plans for the opera house were canceled in 1929.
It has capacity for 5,960 seats.
It was designated a New York City Landmark in 1978, was restored and allowed to remain open. The theater was extensively renovated in 1999.

Catedral de Nueva York

It was built between 1858 and 1878, and inaugurated in 1879.
It is a Catholic cathedral.
It is the seat of the Archbishop of New York as well as a parish church.
Built to accommodate the growing Archdiocese of New York and to replace Old St. Patrick's Cathedral. Work stopped in the early 1860s during the American Civil War.
The archbishop's house and rectory were added in the early 1880s, and the spiers were added in 1888. A ladies' chapel was built between 1901 and 1906.
It is covered in marble and has several dozen stained glass windows. The bronze doors that form the main entrance to the cathedral are flanked by towers with spiers rising 100 m.
Inside there is a nave flanked by several chapels; two cruises; a presbytery and an apse; and a crypt.

Rockefeller Center

Construction of Rockefeller Center began in 1931 and the first buildings opened in 1933. The core of the complex was completed in 1939.
It is a complex of 19 commercial buildings covering 89,000 m2.
The 14 original buildings are in the Art Deco style.
In 1928, Columbia University, which owned the site, leased the land to John D. Rockefeller Jr., who was the main person behind the construction of the complex.
Originally conceived as the site for a new Metropolitan Opera building, the current Rockefeller Center came about after the Met could not afford to move into the proposed new building.
The complex stands out for the large amounts of art present in almost all of its buildings. its vast underground esplanade, its ice skating rink and its annual lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.

It is characterized by the advertising posters on its façade, added in the 1990s.
The Times sold the building in 1961. It was then sold in 1963 and 1975, sold several times in the 1980s and continued to serve as an office building. Lehman Brothers acquired the building in 1995, adding billboards. Jamestown LP has owned the building since 1997.

It is a 73-story skyscraper, 397 m high and its spire is 427 m above the ground.

The façade is mostly made of glass panels, while the spandrels between floors are made of terracotta.
The upper floors contain the Summit One Vanderbilt observation deck.

The Empire State Building and the interior of its ground floor were added to the National Register of Historic Places as a National Historic Landmark in 1986.

The stone exterior is reminiscent of early Italian Renaissance palaces. The horizontal and vertical joints of the façade stones are deeply rusticated. The gold vault of the Federal Reserve Building rests on Manhattan's bedrock.
The vault contains the largest known reserve of monetary gold in the world, with around 5,620 tonnes stored in 2019.
It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

It is a bronze sculpture weighing 3,200 kg, 3.4 m high and 4.9 m long. It represents a bull, the symbol of financial optimism and prosperity.
It symbolizes Wall Street and the financial district.
The sculptor transported it in a truck and illegally dumped it in front of the New York Stock Exchange building. After being removed by the Police Department that same day, it was installed in its current location a few months later.

It has been renovated several times, including in the 1950s, 1980s and 2010s.
Only passenger vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle traffic is permitted.
Designated a National Historic Landmark, New York City National Historic Landmark, and National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.
The bridge overlook from Dumbo offers a perspective of the Manhattan skyline. Located at the intersection of Washington St and Water St. The closest subway stop to reach is High Street Brooklyn Bridge with the A and C lines.
The recommended time to see the Brooklyn Bridge is shortly after sunrise or before sunset.

The statue was dedicated in 1886.
It is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island.
The copper statue, a gift from the people of France, designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and built by Gustave Eiffel.
The statue is a figure of Libertas, the Roman goddess of liberty. She holds a torch above her head with her right hand and in her left hand she carries a tabula ansata inscribed JULY IV MDCCLXXVI, the date of the United States Declaration of Independence. A broken chain and shackle lie at her feet as she walks forward, commemorating the national abolition of slavery after the American Civil War.
After her dedication, the statue became an icon of freedom and the United States, later being seen as a symbol of welcome to immigrants arriving by sea.
