Paris, one of my favorite cities in the world, boasts an almost endless array of adorable boutique hotels with distinct (yet always on-point) vibes. I’ve sifted through the many gems to present the best of the best options.

Paris is undoubtedly one of the most unique cities in the world. Like New York or London, its energy instantly makes you feel like you’re at the center of the universe. But, unlike those cities, it’s also relatively compact.
In fact, Paris is about 1/8 the size of New York. And it’s 1/15 the size of London.
With so little space, and so many visitors eager to stay in a prime location in the city center, nightly Paris hotel room rates are rising faster than almost any other city in the world.
While the high demand definitely means you’ll want to book your Paris hotels early, you’ll also be happy to learn that—in a surprise to no one at all—there’s a seemingly endless offering of adorable, independent, quaint, and downright vibe-y boutique Paris hotels.
I mean, if there’s one thing Parisians are known for, it’s the vibes. Right?!
Luckily, I’ve done all the hard work of sorting through all of these hotels for you!
So keep scrolling for a curated list of the best hidden gem hotels in Paris, including the best boutique Paris hotels, 5 star Paris hotels, and even intel on some of the newest hotels in Paris you’ll want to know about!

Let’s Get Real about Paris Hotel Prices:
It may be your dream to stay in one of the Paris hotels with view of the Eiffel Tower (I mean, that does sound amazing). But, realistically, it’s important to know that unless you have an unlimited budget, you’ll likely need to decide how much to prioritize comfort/cleanliness vs. location when choosing a Paris hotel.
The good thing about Paris, though, is that no matter what neighborhood you end up choosing to stay in, you won’t be far from the action! Plus, some of my absolute favorite parts of Paris (which I think are equally or even more charming than the 7th arrondissement where you’ll find the Eiffel Tower) are those that are a bit more off-the-beaten-path.
✨ If you haven’t decided where in Paris you want to stay yet, check out my guide to Paris neighborhoods before continuing with this list. ✨
Not only that, there are also excellent boutique Paris hotels and 4 star Paris hotels located in every single corner of the city—and even at every budget. In fact, 21 out of 30 hotels on this list are 4 star hotels I think you’ll absolutely love as much as I do.
I’ve tried to hand-pick the best hidden gem hotels in Paris within a wide variety of price points, so no matter what your budget this list will have something for you.
The ranges of each budget category in this article are as follows (all prices in USD):
  • €: Under $250/night
  • €€: $250 to $350/night
  • €€€: $350 to $500/night
  • €€€€: $500+/night
Note: The €€€€ tier is only given for the Marais. It has some of the best boutique Paris hotels, and despite the price I just couldn’t help sharing some! They’d be perfect for a honeymoon or other celebratory trip where you’re splashing out.
Keep in mind that prices fluctuate very significantly between high and low seasons in Paris. Many of the places on this list are almost twice the price of the shoulder seasons during June, July and August.

Cute Paris Hotels in Montmartre

I will always be the first to admit that I’m a complete sucker for Montmartre. Boasting an artistic legacy and perched on top of a hill with absolutely gorgeous views over the city, it’s everything I love about Paris. That said, the neighborhood is admittedly a bit touristy in the section between Sacré-Cœur and the Place du Tertre.
Actually, though, in my opinion staying in Montmartre is really kind of a Paris hack! The tourists largely mob the place from mid-morning to late afternoon, when you’ll probably be out exploring elsewhere anyway. But pop out of your cute hotel for an early morning coffee and croissant, or slip into a nearby bistro after dark, and you’ll feel like a total local.

Hôtel Rochechouart

Hotel
Restaurant
Every corner of the chic, cozy Hôtel Rochechouart right on the edge of Montmartre (technically in Pigalle) calls back to the Paris of the 1920s.
The rooms and suites here carefully incorporate lacquered wood, plush carpets, and perfectly curated furnishings to transport you to Montmartre’s heyday—and a few of them even have a stunning Sacré-Cœur view.
I haven’t had the chance to stay, but a friend of mine does every time he’s in Paris and recommends it highly.

Grand Pigalle Hôtel

Hotel
Restaurant
Any hotel from the Experimental Group is automatically on my list, and the Grand Pigalle Hôtel is no exception! Situated steps from Montmartre proper, this hotel oozes class.
Not only will you find meticulous design choices in ever direction, but the small touches—elevated toiletries, late check-out, and 24/7 room service—mean you’ll no doubt have a luxurious experience to match.

Edgar Suites Montmartre - Paul Albert

Holiday apartment rental
If you’re travelling with a group or need access to a few home-y amenities (kitchen, washing machine, etc.) on a longer trip, Edgar Suites is quite the lucky find. Typical European “aparthotels” are a bit drab—more functional than fun. This place bucks the trend, though, and mixes exciting decor choices throughout. Plus, it’s less than 500m from Sacré-Cœur!

Hôtel Monsieur Aristide

Hotel
Not only is Hôtel Monsieur Aristide perfectly located in the heart of Montmartre, it’s also charmingly bohemian in every sense of the word.
Furnishings sources from Paris’s own flea markets and terrazzo floors made from the waste material of the building’s demolition perfectly complement the 18th century building the hotel calls home.
The onsite bistro and musical instruments available for guests’ use are just the cherry on top.

Hotels in Canal Saint-Martin

To be honest, I only discovered the joys of Canal Saint-Martin on my most recent Paris trip in 2023. Needless to say, I was immediately hooked and plan to stay in this area whenever possible on future visits. Somehow, this area remains a bit off-the-beaten-path, even though it has tons to offer.
If you’re looking for a younger, more local vibe, Canal Saint-Martin is for you. Lovers of trendy cafés, independent shops, and laid-back bistros will especially appreciate this neighborhood—which still happens to be very centrally located for convenient metro journeys all over the city (the République transport hub is just steps from the core of the neighborhood).

Hôtel Amoi

Hotel
You won’t find any traditional Parisian charm at Hôtel Amoi Paris, but honestly—that’s totally ok! Everything here is Parisian to the core, from one-of-a-kind furnishings from local designers to locally sourced toiletries and nibbles. Not to mention the modern funky vibes are on point and, oh, did I mention the sauna and hammam, both free for guests?!

Hôtel Taylor

Hotel
Definitely one of the more basic options on this list, Hôtel Taylor is still nothing to scoff at. Not only will you find some adorable design touches, but recent guests rave about the short walk to République, the delicious €6 breakfast, and lots of strategically placed USB ports—none of which are to be taken for granted!

LA PLANQUE HOTEL

Hotel
If you’re looking for a quiet little retreat from the bustling city, La Planque Hôtel is for you. Just steps from a metro station and the Canal St. Martin itself, this tiny boutique hotel has cozy rooms, a cozy breakfast area, and a cozy terrace—basically, endless spaces to chill out! Rooms on the top floor have views, and recent guests rave about the kind, helpful and patient staff.

Renaissance Paris Republique Hotel

Hotel
Meeting planning service
Wedding venue
Ok, so the Renaissance Paris République may not exactly be a boutique Paris hotel. But it certainly feels like one! I can’t lie—there is always something comforting about the “boutique” arm of a larger hotel chain. You get the design and the attention of a true boutique hotel with all the “extras” of the big players, like a fitness center and rewards redemptions. Plus, this hotel is literally steps from République metro station and the fun of Canal St. Martin.

Hotels in Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Saint-Germain-des-Prés couldn’t be more central! Nestled between the 7th arrondissement (hello, Eiffel Tower!), the Latin Quarter’s Notre Dame, and the quintessential Jardin du Luxembourg, this neighborhood has been home to some of the best hotels in Paris for first time visitors for generations.
And… it shows. Most of the hotels in this neighborhood are honestly giving grandma and grandpa. Frankly, not even grandparent-chic. Just dated and, well, tired.
But, if a Left Bank stay in Paris sounds attractive to you (it should!) and the endlessly charming architecture and liveliness of Saint-Germain still calls, I’ve dug up a few excellent hotel options that actually do have some really good vibes.

Hôtel Saint-André des Arts

Hotel
Bar
Occupying a former artists’ pension (sort of like a boarding house), Hôtel Saint-André des Arts takes inspiration from its own history. Funky bespoke furniture, pop art carpeting, and colorful tile combine to cultivate a retro chic vibe. Plus, it’s literally a 10 minute walk to the Louvre, Notre Dame, Shakespeare & Co., and the Jardin Du Luxembourg. Doesn’t get much more central than that.

Hôtel Artus

Hotel
If the 70s don’t do it for you, how about the late 50s?! Walk into Hôtel Artus and you’ll probably feel like you’ve walked into an episode of Mad Men! With funky retro touches incorporated throughout, this hotel hearkens back to Saint-Germain’s golden age. There’s even a duplex room for groups, and I hear you can also snag a private roof terrace in the Suite Exclusive. Oh, and don’t forget to visit the spa!

L'Hôtel

Hotel
Cocktail bar
With a name like L’Hôtel, this place knows it doesn’t need to do much to reel you in—yet it does anyway. Dripping in luxury, the rooms here will remind you every minute that the place has been open since 1828, was the final residence of Oscar Wilde, and served as a favorite stay for the likes of everyone from Salvador Dali to Elizabeth Taylor. Don’t forget to check out the subterranean pool and spa either!

Best Hotels in Latin Quarter

It’s hard to encapsulate the Latin Quarter easily into a few sentences. Technically, Shakespeare & Co. bookstore is in the Latin Quarter, just across the Seine from Notre Dame. This area has a certain hustle and bustle, and also plenty of tourists!
However, the Latin Quarter also stretches far to the south and east of this, encompassing the Sorbonne university, as well as a large stretch of a much quieter, locally-oriented Paris that you absolutely should explore on a longer (or your second or third) visit to Paris.
For those interested in a truly peaceful stay, the Latin Quarter offers some of the best hotels in Paris for families, or for slower paced travelers!

Hôtel les Jardins du Luxembourg

Hotel
Visiting the Jardin du Luxembourg is one of my favorite things to do in Paris, so the Hôtel Les Jardins Du Luxembourg—literally steps from the garden itself—couldn’t be better located. Rooms are newly(ish) decorated, and while the style isn’t anything innovative, it’s still cute! Being located in an 19th century Hausmannian townhouse, how could it not be? Also, there are several rooms with 4-5 beds, making this place great for families too!

Pepper and Paper Apartments

Holiday apartment
Extended stay hotel
Families or groups visiting Paris shouldn’t sleep on PEPPER & PAPER! Not only is every unit adorably decorated for the perfect home-y atmosphere, but this place’s amenities will have you thanking your lucky stars you didn’t end up in an Airbnb—from an onsite laundry room, to a board game library, to accommodations for pets, to… a pizza oven in the garden!?

Hôtel Jardin de Cluny

Hotel
Not only is Hôtel Jardin de Cluny lauded for its commitment to the environment… it is truly obsessed with plants! From rooms called The Nest to The Botanist to The Secret Garden, every room here is overflowing with warm colors, plush furnishings, and floral motifs Renovated in 2022, the whole place is sort of giving Art Deco. The bathrooms here are especially pretty, and did I mention it’s a 2-minute walk to Notre-Dame?

Les Rives de Notre-Dame Hotel

Hotel
With only 10 rooms, Les Rives de Notre-Dame is an intimate find set right on the banks of the Seine—all rooms have views of the river and many have views of the cathedral itself. The hotel itself calls its rooms “romantic chic” which I think is fitting (and true), but let’s be honest… you’re really choosing this place for its perfect location and excellent reviews.

Hotels in The Marais

If you even made it to a “boutique Paris hotels” roundup in the first place, chances are you’re already aware of the Marais. Widely known as Paris’s coolest neighborhood, the Marais really does feel like it’s in the center of the action.
You might think the endless boutiques, trendy bistros, and big draws like the Place des Vosges, Picasso Museum, and the Marché des Enfants Rouges would leave the Marais feeling over-trafficked and, well, tired. But get off the big streets and wander through some of the Marais’s lesser visited corners, and you’ll see that the neighborhood’s magic is still very much alive!
There is no question that the trendiest, most luxurious 4 star hotels in Paris (and even nicer 5 star hotels in Paris) are concentrated in the Marais. If you’re splashing out for a honeymoon or a big trip, this is absolutely where you’ll want to stay.
Note: I’ve had to include a new price tier (€€€€) for the Marais because it really is that pricey! I promise though, the extra spend is worth it if you want to stay at one of the very best boutique Paris hotels.

Hôtel Sookie & Coffee Shop

Hotel
Brunch restaurant
Coffee shop
If there’s one thing that really does it for me with hotel design, it’s careful attention to detail with materials. And let me tell you, Hôtel Sookie doesn’t disappoint in that department. Mixing gorgeous textiles, stone, bamboo, and textured carpets, this hotel embraces an earthy modernism that genuinely feels like a one-of-a-kind point of view. If budget’s on the mind but you’re dead set on a Marais stay, this is the place for you.

Saintonge

Hotel
A left turn from many of the other hotels on this list, Maison Saintonge takes its design inspiration from the South of France. Furnished with one-of-a-kind pieces from all over France and featuring exposed beam ceilings, this place will have you living your cottage core fantasies right in the heart of the Marais.

Hôtel Le Grand Mazarin

Hotel
I think the tapestries suspended as bed canopies sort of speak for themselves, no? At Le Grand Mazarin, you’ll be transported to a fantastical world where France’s Grand Siècle (the 17th century) and updated whimsical opulence à la Bridgerton collide. Check out the full Booking.com listing below to peep the gorgeous fresco barrel vault ceiling over the pool. Add a chic restaurant and two bars (one no-phones-allowed), and this place is cultivating vibes left and right!

Sinner Paris

Hotel
Club
For those who vibe with a darker, more mysterious energy, Sinner Paris will definitely keep you on your toes. With rooms inspired by the medieval religious history of France (think Knights Templar) this hotel spares nothing by way of amenities: in-room vinyl and novels to peruse, a Roman baths-inspired spa, and the mysterious “Crypt” concept store (good luck discovering anything about it before you visit) all await to quite literally tingle your every sense.

Bastille Hotels in Paris

Bastille is a neighborhood I always carve out time to visit on a trip to Paris, and I’ve also stayed there on several occasions! I am endlessly enamored by the pace of local life in Bastille, where young Parisian families and hipsters have brought some of the city’s cutest shops and restaurants to the area.
For me, staying in Bastille is another one of my favorite Paris hacks! Want to stay within walking distance of the Marais and Canal Saint-Martin (two of the other best neighborhoods in Paris), at a fraction of the cost? Then staying at one of the cheap Paris hotels in Bastille is a no-brainer!

Hôtel Exquis

Hotel
I had the pleasure of staying at Hôtel Exquis myself a couple of years ago—the time I fell in love with Bastille! This place is definitely quirky. It was designed by setting eight artists free at the Saint-Ouen flea market and cobbling together their finds in unique and exciting ways the hotel itself describes as surrealist. I see it. It’s accommodation on the more basic end for sure, but still an excellent (cheap) stay!

Hôtel Bastille Speria

Hotel
Situated only a few steps from Place de la Bastille, Hotel Bastille Speria is actually right on the edge of the Marais itself. A slightly more basic hotel that still manages to cultivate a modern, on-trend vibe with its decor, this place is the perfect base for those planning to explore both neighborhoods.

Le Petit Beaumarchais Hotel & Spa

Hotel
Bar
Spa
Once again located on the border between the Marais and Bastille, Le Petit Beaumarchais is a calming, cozy retreat from the hustle and bustle of Paris. Carefully thought out design elements add warmth to every room, and some even have private balconies. The spa itself offers a sauna, massages, and a small soaking pool, and the hotel is also located quite close to several metro stations!

Paris Hotels with View of the Eiffel Tower in the 7th

I do not blame anyone for dreaming of Paris hotels with view of the Eiffel Tower while planning a trip to Paris. It may be a cliché, but it’s a cliché for a reason, right?!
Unfortunately, though, I really can’t recommend many hotels that actually have a view of the Eiffel Tower. While they do exist, almost every single one falls into the category of either excessively expensive or ridiculously ugly. Neither of those is the vibe around here!
But never fear! I’ve curated an excellent list of boutique Paris hotels right around the corner from the Eiffel Tower—some of which do offer that coveted Eiffel Tower view.
You’ll still pay a premium for a room with a view, but all of these hotels will let you stroll right on past every morning on your way to the boulangerie or as you take a nice leisurely after dinner stroll. Plus, you won’t break the bank and you’ll still get to stay in a vibe-y, small hotel. It’s a win-win-win no matter what.

Le Wallace Hôtel & Bar

Hotel
Cocktail bar
Featuring retro-chic decor inspired by the Italian Riviera and renovated in 2021, Hôtel Wallace is the perfect balance of budget and bougie. Here you’ll indulge your art deco Parisian fantasies with fringed sconces and terrazzo bathrooms, and then head up to the roof terrace’s jacuzzi where you’ll catch views of the top floor of the Eiffel Tower itself.

Alberte Hôtel

Hotel
The brand new (at the time of writing) Alberte Hôtel is literally one street away from the Champ de Mars garden that leads right up to the Eiffel Tower. If imagining the neighborhood’s charm isn’t enough, the clean lines and serene decoration of each room should help you relax right into life in the trendy 7th.

Hôtel Le Cinq Codet

Hotel
Bar
If the Eiffel Tower view is what you’re really here for, the Eiffel Suite at Le Cinq Codet is about all anyone could wish for. Whether you opt to splash out or go for one of the (still stunning) regular rooms, though, the on-point 60s vibes permeate. Special touches like goose down comforters and robes combine with an onsite restaurant, bar, and spa for a truly high end experience.

Best Hidden Gem Hotels in Paris in Other Neighborhoods

I’ve worked hard to cover six of my favorite Paris neighborhoods in more depth, but the best boutique Paris hotels don’t stop there!
In my own travels and in my research, I’ve come across some drool-worthy spots—some of the best hidden gem hotels in Paris—that I just couldn’t resist sharing. These Paris hotels may be scattered all over the city, but I’ll be honest: a few of them might just be my personal favorites on the whole list.

Hôtel Botaniste

Hotel
I stayed at Hôtel Botaniste on a recent last-minute trip to Paris. I wouldn’t normally have chosen to stay so far from the center, but it was one of the few cute hotels available in my price range and I was so glad I stayed! The staff were lovely and helpful, the room was adorably decorated and spacious (especially the bathroom), and it was well connected to two different metro lines. Plus, it’s located in the very chic Auteuil neighborhood, which is worth checking out if you have the time anyway.

Dandy Hotel

Hotel
Bar
Sandwiched right between Châtelet-Les Halles and the Centre Pompidou, the charmingly elegant Dandy Hotel is one of the only boutique Paris hotels you’ll find in such a central area. There’s a certain sophistication to the rooms and common areas here that I wouldn’t expect to find in the 1st. Oh, and don’t forget to try the onsite brasserie for dinner one night!

Hotel Mercedes

Hotel
Ok, can someone tell me why I am obsessed with this Best Western Plus?! Situated in a 1928 maritime-style Art Deco building, the updated Hôtel Mercedes has faithfully embraced its history and I, for one, must come for a stay. Whether you decide to vibe in the meticulously decorated bar/lounge or perfectly nautical Palmer Beach suite (please go have a look!), I promise: you will be vibing here.

Hôtel des Academies et des Arts - Paris 6

Hotel
Massage spa
Tea house
If you dream of slipping into a dark academia moment in Paris, the Hôtel des Académies et des Arts in Montparnasse is for you. Directly across the street from a still-operating nearly 200-year-old art academy, the hotel is filled with young artists’ work (which you can buy), moody wood panelling, and even an art workshop offering classes to guests.

Hotel Eldorado Paris

Hotel
Bar
Restaurant
The brand new Hôtel Eldorado is doing what most of the dated, floral-obsessed hotels of Saint-Germain-des-Prés wish they were! From the completely velvet-covered suites to the eclectic mix of furnishings brought together with care and precision to cultivate the perfect vibe, I am once again obsessed. And that’s before we even get to the charming secret garden!
