If you're extending your week/weekend in (or around) Denver, here are a few of our favorite things to do!

General tips

Overall: See below for some trip ideas organized by location/activity.
Filter: If the map looks too busy, use the filter button (i.e. "stacked papers" button) on the right side to filter for what you're looking for: Rocky Mountain National Park, Denver Dinner, etc.

Rocky Mountain National Park

Time: You'll want to stay at least one night. You could do a day trip, but it would be a very long day.
Pro Tip: RMNP requires timed-entry permits so plan ahead! I recommend the Bear Lake Road Corridor + Full Park Access permit to get to the best locations in the park. If you don't plan ahead, you can enter those areas before they start checking permits (i.e. likely 5a).
Safety: The mountains are known for afternoon thunderstorms. Start your hikes early in the day so you can be back to your car before 1-2p.
1

Bear Lake Trailhead

Hiking area
Nature & Parks
Bodies of Water
Overall: This is the trailhead to some of the most popular hikes in RMNP.
Easy Recommendation: Walk around Bear Lake. Venture to Dream Lake for a bit more of a challenge or all the way to Emerald Lake if you're feeling up for it.
Hard Recommendation: Hike to Sky Pond. It's worth it.
Other Recommendations: We want to try Lake Helene, Chasm Lake, Mount Ida, and Tombstone Ridge on future trips.
Safety: Use All Trails! (Links above.) If you're not familiar with hiking, make sure to stop at the visitor center and talk to a ranger.
2

Donut Haus

Donuts: The best donuts in the world. The one pictured, the Cheesecake Roll, is a butter roll topped with cinnamon and cheesecake. It's incredible.
3

Vail

Overall: If you're looking to venture further into the mountains, Vail would be our top recommendation. It needs no introduction, but the pedestrian-friendly towns, beautiful hiking, and great restaurants make it one of our favorite places. We're still building up our mountain cred so there's not much on the list, but these are a few ideas to get you started!
1

Vail Pass

Hiking area
Walk: Walk the path from Vail to Lionshead to West Vail along the Gore Creek. Explore each town and enjoy the mountain views.
